FORKLIFT REPAIR TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

CLASSIFICATION           Non-Exempt, Hourly

STATUS                           Full-Time

SCHEDULE                   Monday-Friday (40-hour work week)          

REPORTS TO                 Executive Vice President 

LOCATION                      As Needed

SUMMARY

The primary duties of the Forklift Repair Technician include performing diagnostic tests on forklift vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing all  driving system components or lighting system components. Completion of detailed summaries of serviced vehicles and well as interacting with customers required on a daily basis. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
• Analyzing diagnostic test results.
• Replacing vehicle engines and motors, transmissions, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Checking vehicle lighting systems.
• Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.
• Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.
• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
• Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
• Maintaining a parts inventory.
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree or Diploma in Forklift Repair Engineering.
• Forklift Repair Certification advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL License advantageous.
• Aptitude for mathematics and science.
• Advanced knowledge of forklift motors/engines components.
• Good IT and diagnostic skills.
• Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
• Attention to detail good organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Valid driver license and good driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and drive for periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors, and drive in changing weather conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift up to 150 lbs. with tools or assistance.
• Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. up/downstairs.
• Ability to kneel and crawl for extended periods of time.
• Ability to bend at the knees and waist and to lift arms above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
• Ability to walk distance of the location’s property and stand on feet for an eight-hour work shift.
